This 13-day tour brings you to Zhangjiajie, along with Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou, Leshan, Emeishan, and Changsha
ITINERARY (DEPARTURES DAILY)
Day 1 – Shanghai ~ Chengdu
Upon arrival at The Shanghai Pudong International Airport, you will be led to board your connecting flight to Chengdu by the airline’s transfer service personnel. When you arrive in Chengdu, you will meet your local guide and then be transferred to your hotel for rest.
Day 2 – Chengdu (Meals: B, L, D)
After breakfast, enjoy a visit to The Panda House, where you can take photos with the beautiful pandas. Then, today’s excursion takes you to The Dujiang Dam, a water project constructed over 2,200 years ago. The dam, a true historical wonder of science and technology, is considered one of the greatest irrigation works in the world. Tonight we will enjoy a “face-changing show,” a remarkable type of Chinese Sichuan opera performance.
Day 3 – Chengdu ~ Huanglong ~ Jiuzhaigou (Meals: B, L, D)
After breakfast, take a morning flight to Jiuzhaigou / Huanglong. Upon arrival at The Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport, we will first head to Huanglong, a city famous for its peculiar karst landscape and multi-hued ponds. Then, we will proceed to Jiuzhaigou and enjoy a nice dinner at the hotel.
Day 4 – Jiuzhaigou (Meals: B, L, D)
Jiuzhaigou, or “Wonderland on Earth”, is known for its natural charm: mysterious waters pooling in lakes, flowing through streams and gushing down falls, magically appearing to be either peacock blue or emerald green. Everyone who visits the city is overwhelmed by its breathtaking splendor. The tour today will include visits to The Shuzheng Waterfall, Changhai Lake and The River View Pavilion. In the evening, you will be entertained by a local folk dance show and enjoy a fine hotel dinner.
Day 5 – Jiuzhaigou ~ Chengdu (Meals: B, L)
After breakfast, we will depart for the airport to catch a flight back to Chengdu. After arriving in Chengdu, the rest of the day is free.
Day 6 – Chengdu ~ Leshan ~ Emeishan (Meals: B, L, D)
Today we will visit The Broad and Narrow Alleys, an area developed during the Qing Dynasty and once considered the “beating heart of old Chengdu”. The alleys lead you to a window through which you can have a better view of Chengdu. Later, you will enjoy a cruise and visit The Leshan Buddha, the largest stone-carved Buddha in the entire world. The Leshan Buddha has been described as “a mountain emerging as a Buddha and a Buddha becoming a mountain”. Tonight we will stay at Mount Emei, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Day 7 – Emeishan (Meals: B, L, D)
At Mount Emei, we will visit four places of interest: Baoguo Temple, Wannian Temple, Qingyin Pavilion and Golden Summit. The main peak, Golden Summit, reaches 3,079.3 meters (10,103 feet) above sea level. Standing at the top, you will enjoy a view of the snowy mountains in the west and the vast plain to the east.
Day 8 – Emeishan ~ Chengdu (Meals: B, L)
Today you will drive back to Chengdu and, upon arrival, enjoy a tour of the city. During the tour, you will visit the Wuhou Temple, a shrine dedicated to Zhu Geliang, the Prime Minister of the Shu Kingdom; Jinli Street, a place where visitors can enjoy delicious Sichuan food and snacks while taking in the local folk culture.
Day 9 – Chengdu ~ Changsha (Meals: B, L, D)
After breakfast, take a morning flight to Changsha. Upon arrival, visit The Yuelu Academy, one of the four most renowned academies from the Tang Dynasty. The renowned Confucian scholars Zhu Xi and Zhang Shi both lectured at this academy. Later, continue to visit the Mawangdui Han Dynasty Tombs, uncovered in 1972.
Day 10 – Changsha ~ Zhangiajie (Meals: B, L, D)
After breakfast, take a coach to Zhangjiajie. In 1988, Zhangjiajie was recognized as China’s first National Forest Park. In 1992, it was officially recognized as a UNESCO World Site. The location’s unique, pillar-like rock (Hallelujah Mountain) formations make it a popular tourist destination. This is also the location where the film AVATAR was filmed for it’s Pandora city. Enjoy a boat ride on Baofeng Lake. Tonight we will stay at Mount Zhangjiajie.
Day 11 – Zhangiajie (Meals: B, L, D)
Spend the day exploring Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. Take The Bailong Lift up to The Yujiajie Scenic Area, a natural platform that faces giant rocks rising up from deep valleys and surrounded by tall mountains. Unique in their shapes and covered with pine trees, these rocks resemble a vivid Chinese painting. Today’s scenic visits will also include: The Back Garden, the breathtaking Mihun Stage and The First Bridge Under the Sun. Proceed to Tianzi Mountain where you can see many sites including Helong Park, West Sea, The Yu Bi Peaks, Xian Nü San Hua (floral tributes) and Shen Bing Ju Hui. Finally, take a cable car down the mountain.
Day 12 – Zhangiajie ~ Shanghai (Meals: B, L, D)
Today you will visit the famous Golden Whip Stream. Later, travel to Ten Miles Natural Gallery by mini-train and tour the rock formations. After dinner, you will board a flight to Shanghai.
Day 13 – Shanghai ~ Return Flight (Meals: B)
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home as the trip has come to an end.
